Cranfield is the first University in the UK to receive accreditation from the European Logistics Association (ELA) in recognition of the high standards of teaching on the supply chain masters programmes delivered by Cranfield School of Management.
Richard Wilding OBE, Professor of Supply Chain Strategy at Cranfield and Chairman of CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) commented: “This is great news for Cranfield and for the students of our logistics programmes. European recognition is increasingly important for our students, who come from all over the world to study at Cranfield.”
The ELA, is a federation of 30 national logistics associations, covering Central and Western Europe and beyond. The association provides an international forum for networking and the promotion and development of the logistics and supply chain profession. ELA accreditation in the UK is managed by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and is open to universities with CILT accredited degrees which align with the ELA Standards.
Cranfield School of Management is home to Europe's largest specialist logistics, procurement and supply chain management faculty and is recognised around the world in this field. The School’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc celebrates its 35th anniversary this year and is expecting a record number of students to join the programme in September.
Professor Wilding went on to say: “It is an exciting time for logistics at Cranfield as our programmes grow and develop to meet the demands of the sector. Our faculty work closely with our advisory board of senior logistics and procurement professionals from global organisations. Their experience and advice drives the continued development of our supply chain courses ensuring they are relevant for today’s global supply chain environment.”
The ELA accreditation standards were developed by practitioners for practitioners and are updated regularly to ensure they reflect the rapidly developing role of the supply chain professional. They are aligned to a common European reference system which links a number of national qualifications systems and frameworks together (European Qualification Framework) and which enables professionals to have their skills and qualifications recognised in many countries.
The Chair of the CILT Accreditation Committee, Dr James Stone, congratulated Cranfield and said: “The staff, module content and progression requirements of the three Cranfield programmes were all of first class quality.
