- Managing Corporate Sustainability
Background
Sandy is a business leader, whose key strength is strategic leadership of systemic change, focused now on sustainability. His career comprises senior strategic and operational roles in manufacturing, supply chain, and R&D (Unilever and Diageo), then leadership roles in two global business coalitions (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Toilet Board Coalition) setting up circular economy projects. He has studied business, engineering, and environmental systems, advised organisations across multiple sectors, and is now teaching sustainability at Masters level and on corporate programmes.
Research opportunities
Opportunities to design products for their after-use phase to be a benign fate in the biosphere - food (obviously food waste, but including human waste too), and also packaging, sanitary products, paper, textiles, and more.
Opportunities for holistic biological waste systems capable of recovering nutrients (for return to the soil), bioenergy, and clean water from any/all of the above product types.
Current activities
Sandy's primary aim is to help business leaders with their sustainabiluty strategy, and specifically in adopting and developing the Circular Economy. After a recent spell of research he is building a portfolio of teaching and advisory work, including his role as a Visiting Fellow at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥.
