What does it mean to make an impact?
‘Impact’ is a word we hear often, but what does it really mean? How do we create meaningful change in our careers, communities, and the wider world? These were the questions on my mind when I applied for the Full-time MBA at Cranfield School of Management. I wasn’t just looking for another degree, I wanted a transformational experience that would equip me with the skills, network, and confidence to make a lasting difference.
Why Cranfield? Finding the right place to make a difference
When researching MBA programmes, I was drawn to Cranfield’s practical, leadership-focused approach and I wanted an institution that aligned with my values and aspirations. But what truly set it apart was its commitment to real-world impact - not just in business, but in fostering leaders who drive meaningful change.
I was fortunate to receive the Women in Leadership Scholarship in partnership with the 15% Club and the prestigious Anthony and Amanda Jenkins Women in Business Award. These weren’t just financial support; they were a call to action. I felt a responsibility to give back, to create something lasting that would support future students, especially women, in their leadership journeys.
Building a Legacy: Cranfield Women in Business Club
With this vision in mind, a fellow MBA classmate and I co-founded the Cranfield Women in Business Club in December 2024. Our mission? To empower female students, foster a strong professional network, and create opportunities for mentorship and leadership development. We envision a future where women leaders thrive in all sectors, supported by a network that champions inclusivity and excellence.
This initiative would not have been possible without the support of the MBA faculty, our peers, and the incredible lessons we absorbed throughout the semester. At Cranfield, we don’t just talk about leadership, we put it into practice. The encouragement we received to take ownership of our ideas and bring them to life has been one of the most valuable aspects of the MBA experience.
Transitioning from MBA to career: Making an impact in Consulting
As the MBA journey progresses, I know that soon I’ll transition back into the professional world. For me, that means stepping into management consulting, where I hope to help businesses navigate complex challenges while advocating for more inclusive leadership.
Consulting isn’t just about solving business problems, it’s about:
✅ Empowering teams to implement meaningful change
✅ Driving innovation in fast-evolving industries
✅ Ensuring diversity and inclusion remain a core part of strategic decision-making
My MBA has given me the strategic mindset, leadership skills, and network to make this vision a reality and my goal is to leverage my expertise to drive impact helping businesses navigate complexities while championing the role of women in leadership.
Finding your tribe: The power of like-minded people
One of the biggest lessons from my MBA journey has been the power of community. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals, those who share your drive and ambitions, can be game-changing.
At Cranfield, transformation is not just encouraged but actively cultivated. Whether it’s launching student-led initiatives, tackling real-world business challenges, or building global networks, this MBA is designed for those who want to lead with impact.
Our cohort is incredibly diverse, representing over 20 nationalities and a wide range of industries and experiences. Yet, what unites us is a shared mindset. Pursuing an MBA means committing to self-discovery, understanding your strengths, recognising areas for growth, and embracing challenges that push you beyond your comfort zone. With Cranfield’s expert faculty guiding the way, I’ve been able to tailor my MBA experience through specialised pathways: Executive, Entrepreneurial, or Independent routes. The Independent pathway is perfect for aspiring consultants.
Final thoughts: The journey continues
Making an impact is not a one-time event it’s a continuous journey. Whether in academia, business, or community leadership, real change comes from taking initiative, stepping outside of your comfort zone, and lifting others as you climb. The Cranfield MBA has provided me with the platform and network to do just that, and I am excited about the future that lies ahead.
If you’re seeking a transformative experience where you can truly make a difference, Cranfield School of Management’s Transformation MBA is the place to start. Your journey towards making an impact begins here.
