Hi, I’m Dominik, and it’s great to see you on my blog. I am writing here about connection of mountain passion with science. I want to make you aware of my research and the impact of climate change on the environment. Furthermore, I focus mostly, but not only, on high mountains and polar regions. Beside scientific posts, you’ll also find some stuff about my lifestyle.
I am an avid climber, a member of Polish Sport Himalism and a member GOPR mountain search and rescue. Besides that I am also active as a mountain rescuer in the Safe Kazbek project.
You’re more than welcome to check my YouTube channel where I post my drone videos.
Right now I’m doing my PhD in hydrology at Desert Research Institute and University of Nevada, Reno in the USA. Before that I studied geography with the specialization: Exploration of Polar and Mountain Areas at the University of Silesia in Katowice. It allowed me to combine my passion for the mountains with science and also to visit Svalbard. On the blog, I write about my innovative master’s thesis; is microplastic already present in the high mountains?
During my studies, I traveled a lot, so far I have visited 42 countries on 5 continents. I also worked as a leader of commercial expeditions. Thanks to this, I was able to go with clients to: USA, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Russia.
I am also a drone pilot, I am constantly trying to develop my skills in this area.
I am also interested in personal development, foreign languages and fantastic.
The best country to live in? At the moment, I will choose Norway and Slovenia. I visited the first one 7 times, 4 of them for summer work. I am still very impressed with nature and the Norwegian way of life and work culture. In Slovenia, I spent a year on an Erasmus student exchange. A small, but an incredibly diverse and beautiful country with a lot to offer.
