Background
Ryan Creeth (MSci) is a PhD student in plant molecular biology pioneering the use of CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing in raspberry (Rubus idaeus). The project, fully funded by industry, uses DNA-free protoplast-based methods to initiate high efficacy genome editing and plant regeneration. He studied MSci Biology at the University of Bristol (2016-2020), graduating with first class honours, with his Master's project exploring the use of carbon nanomaterials as vectors for genome editing in wheat. He then joined the Animal and Plant Health Agency (part of DEFRA) as an executive officer and microscopy specialist in the veterinary histopathology department (2021-2022), before beginning his PhD at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ in April 2022.
