Background

Erin obtained her undergraduate degree in Physical Geography and Geological Sciences from the University of Manitoba, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in GIS. She then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Winnipeg. Following this, Erin went on to complete a dual Masters program, TRANSFOR-M, obtaining a MSc in Conservation and Land Management from Bangor University and a Master of Forestry from the University of Alberta. Her research focused on evaluating the current and future conservation status of forest genetic resources in western North America under climate change. Afterward, Erin transitioned to industry roles in data science, analytics, and product management before returning to academia to pursue her PhD.

Current activities

Erin is currently pursuing a PhD in Environment and Agrifood, spatially examining the impact of land use decisions on the sustainability of producing crop-based Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) under current and future climate conditions. This research aims to facilitate informed decision-making in land use for SAF production in the transition towards sustainable aviation and net zero. This work is supported by the UK Natural Environment Research Council through the CENTA2 Doctoral Training Partnership [NERC Ref: NE/S007350/1].
