Background
Having navigated an unconventional career path that includes a Batchelor of Engineering Degree and a Social Science PhD, Tim studies the relationships and structures formed between people and organisations; and the strategies of governance, leadership and management that contribute to work-related stress, depression and anxiety. In this regard, Tim's principal research interests lie at the interface of socio-technical systems and peoples' subjective experience of challenge in complex organisational environments.
Current activities
Tim is a Lecturer in Socio-technical Systems in the Complex Systems Governance Group at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥. He the Course Director for the level 7 Systems Thinking Practitioner Apprenticeship and MSc (NHS closed cohort) and leads the Complex Systems and Dialogue and Collaboration Modules.
Working at the boundary where social science meets engineering, Tim has successfully developed innovative methodological solutions utilising flow theory and mathematical logic to relate personal construct elicitation methods into a thematic codebook. His highly novel and innovative research has been used to develop an array of human-AI-teaming initiatives that include the trustworthiness of AI; and AI supporting people's health, well-being and performance to bridge the gap generated between employees and managers in hybrid working environments.
