Background
Abhay Vincent is an experienced aerospace engineer with sound understanding of component design and development. Prior to joining ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, he worked as a gas turbine design engineer for Rolls-Royce via Expleo. He has experience with the use of robust design techniques, system validation and verification and modelling/simulation for engineering components. In his role within the Impact Ice team at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, he specialises in ice adhesion experimental testing, droplet impingement testing and analysis and molecular dynamics simulations.
Dr. Vincent completed his PhD in multi-scale ice adhesion analysis from ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ in 2022. Prior to that, he obtained his MSc. in Aerospace Vehicle Design from ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, UK in 2014 and a BEng. in Aeronautical Engineering from Hindustan University, India in 2012.
Current activities
Dr. Abhay Vincent's current activities as a postdoctoral researcher for Impact Ice Adhesion Team at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ includes: ice adhesion testing in Cranfield Icing Wind Tunnel (IWT), ice-substrate interaction studies using molecular dynamics simulations, ice protection systems conceptual design, testing and analysis, droplet impingement studies using shadowgraphy and thermography and rig design to simulate icing conditions in various thermo-mechanical and aerospace systems. He supports research projects from industrial clients from major aerospace companies at the Cranfield Icing Wind Tunnel and is involved in academic research with focus on ice-substrate interactions.
