The Cranfield Water Science Institute, in partnership with Anglian Water, is offering this full-fee bursary for a UK/home student . The bursary covers the tuition fees for our Water and Wastewater Processes MSc course, and gives the student the opportunity to undertake an 18-month paid placement with Anglian Water. The student will receive a bursary of £20,000 for living costs during their placement with Anglian Water.

The successful candidate will undertake a combined programme of taught study at Cranfield and a company-based project placement over a fixed two-year period (8 month taught programme and 18 month placement).

The taught component comprises eight one-week assessed modules and a group project focused on water and wastewater treatment processes. During the placement the student will have the opportunity to work on different research projects.
 
For the taught component of the MSc, the student will be based at Cranfield (October 2025 until May 2026). After that, the student will start the placement with Anglian Water’s Innovation team. The MSc thesis will be based on some of the research the student produces during the placement. (May 2026 until September 2027).

Who can apply

To be eligible for the bursary an applicant must be a UK student eligible for 'Home' fees and available to start the course in the October intake.

Applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree in engineering or science. A driving licence is desired but not essential.

This course is suitable for science or engineering graduates keen to pursue careers within companies involved in water and wastewater treatment, process contractors, consultants, equipment manufacturers, suppliers and industrial water users; graduates currently working in the water sector keen to extend their qualifications; or individuals with other qualifications who possess considerable relevant experience.
