Manufacturing 2075 is a global forum hosted by ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ to discuss very long-term manufacturing challenges for the UK and other countries. Our collective views on Manufacturing Futures will shape our research direction in the short and long term, help us better understand our user requirements and drivers, ensure tailored and timely practical solutions, and support innovation in new education models. Manufacturing 2075 will this year feature as part of the new Manufacturing and Materials Week at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥.
The theme for 2020 was post-COVID-19 paradigms in manufacturing of materials.
The challenges faced by manufacturing research, education and skills requirements - and our knowledge capability base in 2075 - have been irreversibly changed in a remarkably short period of time, not experienced for generations. These unprecedented changes in our lifestyles and values, and global political and societal developments, will drive our research and development agendas in the manufacturing of materials for the foreseeable future. To be suitably prepared for the future challenges, especially for those driven by disease prevention and healthcare provision, we need to imagine the future to plan the present.
As a global community, we need to look beyond the here and now and identify the likely research challenges of the far future. This will enable us to anticipate the requirements of societal and industrial users and ensure that we are in a position to provide timely, relevant and credible technologies, as well as advice, guidance, education, knowledge products and practical solutions.
Manufacturing 2075 will run as a fully virtual event for the first time in 2020, with a set of keynotes from manufacturing thought leaders, medical experts, educationists and technology innovators, followed by a series of workshop sessions to capture delegates' imaginations.
The event promises to be a truly thought-provoking and unique atmosphere and we hope that you can join us for this inaugural global forum.
