We offer a unique combination of technology, statistics and mathematics expertise to answer critical and operational defence analysis issues. The Centre provides extensive capabilities for defence and security modelling, simulation, wargaming, weapon assessment, decision analysis and scientific computing. Our activities encompass education, research and consultancy, serving a diverse student, client and partner base.
We work closely with the likes of the British Army, the UK’s Ministry of Defence, Dstl and British Aerospace, as well as the wider defence industry, while retaining complete academic independence. Governments and industry alike value our analytical and technological expertise.
The Centre combines academic rigour, real-world research applications and consultancy found in few other institutions. We apply our expertise to a wide range of areas including operational and mathematical analysis; design and facilitation of exercises and wargames; and simulation design and application. We have the expertise to apply our methods to wider industry and have worked with leading organisations such as the Mercedes Formula 1 team.
Our team are an enviable mix of career academics who are deep experts in their fields and specialists with experience in the business and defence sectors, while our students are drawn from the international military and the UK defence industry. We also welcome applications from private individuals to join our programmes.
